I TOLD YOU!

HAHA! I heard it on the radio today, and and and, I think, it's illegal for Australians to sing in the shower! XD Why, because singing in the shower, reading or dancing takes up 9% (or something) of the utilities bill and and and the country wants the people to save!

HAHAHA I know I'm very incoherent but I'm laughing I'm sorry but I just thought it was so cute! Heeheehee!

I TOLD YOU SINGING IN THE SHOWER WAS SOMETHING VERY SIGNIFICANT HAHAHA!

privilleged!

Lately I've realised how privilleged I (we) really am (are), to have an education, not to have to work to feed a family at the age of 16, to be able to speak english, and chinese, and any other languages that come along, to have freedom, to have choice, to be able to do most of what I want. I mean, the greatest worry I can think of lately is, I haven't found my prom dress! How different this would be from a farmer's child, struggling under the scorching sun without the guarantee of even the next meal. And there I am again, complaining about how the maid puts bread with mayo. Hey, yuhui, be glad that you have something to eat!

Sometimes I wonder if I'm being too frivolous or superficial, wanting, wanting and wanting so much. (By the way, I think that's the problem with Singaporeans - we know too much (cosmopolitan global hub, huh), which is why we are always wanting so much, and we can never be content with what we have. Ignorance is bliss, yes?)

It's a good thing I decided to look for a job - because now when I look at something I see how many hours of work I have to complete to be able to afford it, and somehow, I become more careful with what I'm spending. Imagine, how many years have I been wasting my dad's hardearned money!

Ah, I think I can't look at something and not turn it into a complicated mess of strands of thought about life. You know, a mess, like a plate of tangled noodles!

Talent, I think, can actually be trained. DBSK started me thinking. The entertainment industry, if you look at it this way, is actually just another career venture, and success - worldwide fame, is just like success in the business world - a worldwide established MNC; in the legal world - a reputable lawyer; in the sporting world - gold medals and trophies. Simple as that, really! Media glorifies everything, but as princess' dad taught us, work is always only 20% interesting, no matter how much you love what you do. Artistes are selected when they are about 13, from where they undergo training, about 5 to 6 years, and when they debut, they are 'talented' and star material. It's just like a sportsman, who decides at the age of 13 that (s)he wants to do sports, and starts training.

But the more I watch DBSK, the more cheaty I think Taiwan bands are!
WATCH THEM SING WATCH THEM DANCE! Know and recognise how awe-inspiring they are! :D

Haha oh dear, like jiakang says, "Congratulations, you're a fan!"

This time I uh, don't deny! XD

timelessness.

There are times where everything just seems to stop in its tracks - the wind freezes on your face, people turn into unmoving shadows, the clock and its tick-tocking fades into a steady note, and everything is so silent. So silent, all you can hear is your heartbeat, your thoughts, and that oh-so-silent and intense hum that you can only hear in perfect silence.

At times like this, I feel like I'm floating in a space somewhere above my head, watching motionless screenshots of the world, of women in business suits clacking hurriedly away on heels, of chatting students milling out of school gates, of angry bus drivers cursing at the jam.

I feel surreal.

You think it's immortalism, it's heaven, it's special - that for once, you are, perhaps, somewhere above life itself, that you've received some kind of enlightenment.

But I only, as usual, wake to find that the world has gone on without me, and the clock has mercilessly bulldozed yet another field of time.

Life never fails to disappoint - dragging everything back to reality, different from the innocence and purity of everything you wished for. Man is inherently good, the world is naturally kind.

Sometimes I really don't know what to belive in; is optimism and pure trust really a good thing?

Perhaps that's why people always say that children are forced to grow up. Amongst other people, it is no longer a choice.

SINGAPOREAN THAT'S WHO WE ARE!

I think I have the answer to the failure of Singapore's entertainment industry. Or our ability to retain our miniscule talent pool, to keep scholars within our nation's boundaries, to halt our falling birth rate - we have no culture whatsoever to speak of!

The more I think of it, the more I find it important - that a small country like us, who have not much more retentive power than a safe walk in the street at night, a guaranteed lack of protests or political unrest and good food (which amounts to quite a bit actually). We have no history! We have no han fuk no qi pao no sari no corset no bread pudding no bimimbap (or sth) no gou-bu-li-bao-zi no dim sum no burgers no eggs and bacon nothing! While here we are, calmly considering UK and US universities (last resort, NUS), people all around the world have never questioned going to a local university. Well, true, they have states to travel through, but, still! They are kept back by their language proficiency, by their lifestyle, by their natural sense of belonging.
In so many other countries, retaining our talent pool is not so much a problem, as hasn't been brought up at all. But in SINGAPORE! Oh they are trying, they are.

I suppose in the end we will all come back, but it's a matter of asking ourselves - why is Singaporean the only nationality who can get the best experience overseas?

We should have a royal family, we really should! And shoot a GOONG: The Singapore Edition.

HAHA my ulterior motive is revealed! :D
Shall go for dinner now, see you!
